Moments
Hervey Bay mid month on a day without a breeze. The fish was 800 mm

on
a pink on white clouser.
We headed out from Urangan - not a bird or bust up to be seen. Arrived
just south of Wartumba Creek at a location know as the arches. The
only conspicuous sign was a couple of fins circling, turtles and large
eagle rays leaving the water.
The fins were a ball of Goldens, Spanish mackerel about 800 to 900 long
and huge queenfish 1.2 M long.
Mate put down his 12 wt after not
raising a strike. Popper hit several times but no hook up. I lost 6
Spaniards with bite throughs and when I had wire - not a touch.
We travelled to the top of the island for a couple of shots at kingfish
and Tuna on the sand flats.
Hooked a large Longtail right at the back of the boat, coiled line
around Epirb as I moved to follow the fish and avoid a broken rod =
spectacular bust off.
Ended up with 2 goldens, 1 large Tealeaf Trevally, 1 Spaniard 750 mm
and 6 grinners.
Think I should retire - This must be what it feels like to be Leo.
