Lake Jindabyne
Hi Everyone,
Here is a quick report of our week at Lake Jindabyne last week (6/10/07
– 13/10/07) :

The Harding families of Peter, Leo, Bernard and Chris fished for a week
at Lake Jindabyne last week for a total of 19 fish (both rainbows and
browns) – remember, not all of us are fly fishers. The fishing
especially fly fishing began very well with Chris catching a 6 pound
brown (picture attached) and Leo a 3 ½ pound rainbow on the first
afternoon of arriving there! Leo followed up the next morning with
another 3 pounder on the fly but from then on the fishing slowed up
remarkably and in general the rest of the week became a bit of a
struggle. Power Bait was best for those who bait fished and trolling
was quiet. From all reports trolling was best at first light – bugger
that after a belly full of food, a couple of beers and the odd port the
night before!. Fly fishing was the real winner with more quality fish
showing up at dusk – Chris caught another 3 ½ pound rainbow later in
the week on dusk along with a couple of small rainbows that Leo and
Chris caught on black ants when the hatches occurred. Surprisingly, one
afternoon produced a good hatch of ants with few fish coming to them –
perhaps the wind was blowing in the wrong direction. It should be
mentioned that Peter finally caught a trout on fly after trying all
week – has the art of fly-fishing got to him? Will he sell all those
lures and soft plastics and flick sticks? Only time will tell!
Cheers
Chris
